According to the latest TokenInsight Crypto Exchange Report for Q3 2026, MEXC secured the second-highest market share in commodity perpetuals at 17.43%. The exchange recorded $86 billion in commodity perpetual volume during the quarter, nearly doubling the volume of the third-ranked competitor. This growth contributed to MEXC's total quarterly trading volume of $1.069 trillion, representing an 8.91% share of the total market, which is a 0.38 percentage point increase from the previous quarter.
The report emphasizes that commodity-linked derivatives are increasingly dominated by a small group of players, with MEXC and Binance together controlling approximately 75% of the commodity perpetuals market. Gold (XAU) remains the primary driver, accounting for 51% of all volume in this sector. MEXC demonstrated broad strength across various assets, ranking second in gold, silver, Brent crude, copper, and platinum, and third in palladium.
This shift toward TradFi-linked perpetuals is a defining trend for MEXC, as these instruments now account for 17.38% of the platform's total derivatives trading volume. This ratio is the third-highest among the nine major exchanges tracked by TokenInsight. The data suggests that crypto traders are increasingly utilizing digital asset platforms to gain exposure to traditional macro assets like energy and precious metals without exiting the blockchain ecosystem.
For the broader market, MEXC’s rise underscores a significant consolidation of liquidity among the top four exchanges—Binance, MEXC, OKX, and Bybit—which now account for 70% of the total derivatives market. As we move toward the end of 2026, market participants should watch for increased regulatory scrutiny on these 'synthetic' commodity products, particularly as offshore exchanges continue to gain ground in services traditionally reserved for legacy financial institutions.
